The substantive work of GEE-21 is being carried out in three broad areas:

  1. Energy Policies
  2. Global Climate Change and Air Quality
  3. Water Security

Toufiq Siddiqi’s discussion paper on “Integrating Energy Policies in South Asia” points out the need to integrate policies for energy, environment, and transportation. The paper by David Street et al. analyses the annual emission trends of sulfur dioxide, black carbon, and organic carbon in East Asia for the period 1980-2000, and asks the question whether aerosols over China peaked during the 1990s. Both papers overlap Program areas 1 and 2.

The Water Security theme (Program 3) is discussed extensively in two books prepared by GEE-21 based on a project on “Water and Security in South Asia” sponsored by the Carnegie Corporation of New York. The two volumes, titled “Water Conflicts in South Asia” and “Water Needs in South Asia” are available for purchase from GEE-21. Please contact us for orders.

The three Project Reports  (without the specially prepared maps and charts) are available for downloading from the GEE-21 Publication site.
